The 34th Annual March For Life

January 22, 2007

Our Knights of Columbus Council 9002 members joined with parish members, both young and "more mature", and attended the 34th March For Life on January the 22nd in Washington, DC.  There were forty three on the bus which took us into the March For Life staging area where the speakers were located.  The day was preceded by our first winter snowfall of about two inches, just enough to make the speaker's area very muddy.  The air was brisk but the tens of thousands in attendance were full of hope and prayers for the end to abortion.  We heard President Bush speak to the group when he stated:  "remember our Declaration of Independence states that every person has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and we believe every human life has value.  We pray for the day when every child is welcome in life and protected into law."  We walked the path many have walked for thirty four years and prayed every step of the way, knowing that our loving God is walking with us.  We may not see an end of abortion this year but we will keep right on walking the "walk" and praying each step.  It was very uplifting to see the great number of young people who attended the march, not just because it might just be a "happening" but for their sincere love of life.  With the enthusiasm that the young exerted, the future overturning the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision is inevitable. If we trust and keep praying and fighting, God will not fail to lead us to the final victory!
